2024 Wall Lecture Weekend

On Sunday morning, Dr. Breed will have a lecture offering in the Kingston building from 9:00 - 10:15am.
Topic: Prophets during Israel's exile and return: Jeremiah, and 2nd and 3rd Isaiah. Light breakfast and coffee provided.
Following this, Dr. Breed will be preaching in our 10:30am worship service. His scripture is Isaiah 7:1-16. The title of his sermon is "God with Us, Then and Now." He will talk about how we are to read the prophets as Christians and what they mean for us now.
No reservation is needed.

Meet our Speaker
Dr. Brennan Breed
Dr. Brennan Breed joined us in 2023 for our Lecture weekend, and we are excited to have him come again this year! Brennan is an Associate Professor of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary and Theologian-in-Residence at First Presbyterian Church of Marietta. He is the author of the book Nomadic Text (Indiana University Press, 2014) and co-author of Daniel: A Commentary (Westminster John Knox, 2014) with Carol Newsom. Brennan is currently writing a commentary on the book of Daniel for the Interpretation series and a book about the history of the early Hellenistic era in Israel with Davis Hankins. Brennan lives in Decatur, Georgia with his wife, Catherine, their two kids, Freddie and Margaret Ann, and their two, miniature schnauzers, Shadow and Zuzu. Brennan loves hiking, cooking, and making noises on the fiddle, mandolin, and banjo.
